Fischertratten, Carinthia, (Upper Carinthia), Austria
Solid wood house with a fireplace, sauna and five bedrooms
The house is in the Malta valley, near the town of Gmünd. The town is at the gateway to the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Nockberge National Park, offering art and culture experiences with many exhibitions, galleries, workshops and ateliers in the wonderfully preserved medieval town.
The living room opens onto the terrace and the garden of around 5000m².
The house provides around 170m² of living space. You enter the ground floor through a generous entrance and cloakroom area. The ground floor has a two-bed room with a big en-suite shower room with a WC. There is also a guest toilet. The big, open kitchen, the dining room with a table for 12 people and a cosy living room with a tiled fireplace stove round off this floor. Internal wooden stairs lead from the living room up to the first floor, with a gallery leading to three double bedrooms and a walk-in wardrobe, for the use of all the bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed (180 x 200cm), while the other has two single beds (90 x 200cm). There is a very generous bathroom with a free-standing bath, a shower, WC and double washbasin, which can be accessed from the walk-in wardrobe and from the other bedroom directly. There are other stairs from the living room down into the basement, which has a double bedroom with a French bed (150cm wide) and small windows high up on the wall. There is also a sauna with a shower and a relaxation room in the basement.
The charming Malta valley is also called the valley of waterfalls, stretching from the little artists‘ town of Gmünd, one of the most vibrant little towns in Austria, to the north-west as far as the foot of the Ankogel mountain group. There are countless hiking options all around the valley, from gentle walks in the valley area to extensive hikes at medium altitude (Nockberge, Maltaberg) and high alpine hikes in the Hohe Tauern area (Hochalmspitze, Ankogel and Hafner group). The valley culminates with the Kölnbreinsperre, the highest dam wall in Austria at 200 metres, one of the biggest reservoir dams in Europe and the deepest lake in Carinthia. Millstätter Lake is nearby. There are tennis courts and golf courses in the vicinity.
Groups of youths or smokers are not allowed in this house.
