The area is best suited for hiking, fishing, swimming and golfing, but is still nice and quiet despite the many holidaymakers in the area, but not lonely or isolated. There is also a tourist office in Olofström and you can also get tips in German there. It is the ideal location for exploring southern Sweden and is easily accessible all year round via the motorway connection. In Olofström, 5km away, there are various shops, a pharmacy, a bank, cafes and restaurants. There is an indoor swimming pool, a bowling hall, a riding hall, an adventure playground for children aged 1-15 & in Holje Park mini golf and market days, music & dance events. Sölvesborg & Karlshamn can be reached in half an hour. Here you can stroll through the Alststad, explore the coast and museums or simply enjoy a day at the beach. We also recommend a visit to the archipelago, the weekly market & the smokehouses. In summer there are various festivals, markets & events. Olofström has a hundred lakes, including some larger ones, making it a true canoe mecca and angler's paradise. The lake area stretches from Olofström across the five large lakes Halen - Raslången - Gillesjön - Filkesjön - Immeln to Skåne. Large parts of the east and north-east of the Halen together with the adjoining areas of land form the 700-hectare Halen nature reserve. Due to the natural connections to the neighboring lakes Raslången, Filkesjön and Immeln in the neighboring province of Skåne, Halen is part of a huge water system. This fact, coupled with the numerous branches, bays and islands make the Halen a very popular area for canoeists. The size and the varied conditions of the lake have produced a diverse fish population, which also makes the waters particularly interesting as a fishing area. In addition to roach, perch, bream, ruff and pike, there are also significant stocks of trout, rainbow trout and eel. The area also has a lot to offer hikers, e.g. B. the long-distance hiking trail Blekingeleden, which connects to the Skåneleden in the north. There is a lot of forest in Olofström and in late summer/autumn there are also plenty of berries and mushrooms. For cyclists we recommend the 250 km long Banvallsleden, which runs partly on former railway embankments from Halmstad via Olofström to Karlshamn & the Halen Circuit 22 km. Kristianstadt also has a very beautiful old town. A day trip is worthwhile to the countless restaurants, cafes and shops as well as tw. to explore free museums, theaters and of course the biosphere reserve Vattenrike including Naturum. Many of our holiday guests have also visited Ronneby Park & Old Town, Ahus Distillery & Beach, Kalmar Castle, Karlskrona & the IKEA Museum in Älmhult. There is also a nice cafe at Immeln and a ferry takes you to the island of Ivö. In the area you have the possibility for longer excursions on foot and by bike, as well as on the larger lakes there are canoe and boat rentals as well as countless barbecue and fishing spots. For children, the area also offers a lot of leisure activities, often free of charge. Day trips to Helsingborg and Ullared for shopping, as well as Tosselilla Badeland near Ystad, Pipi Longstocking Park near Vimmberby, Brio Toy Museum in Osby, the western town of High-Chapparal and the Elk Park near Markaryd are also recommended. Here you can either drive your own car or take the train through a large moose enclosure and there is a bison valley.
