Casita Can Magdale

The Casita (small house/cottage) is part of a larger mansion / country house "Can Magdale" in the building protected village of Marraxinet, some 30 km northeast from Palma. Marraxtinet is a small and quiet village with some 20 houses or so nestled on a ridge overseeing the vast plain between Portol and Santa Maria del Cami. From Marraxtinet communication is excellent. Within few minutes one is on the Palma / Alcudia motorway. It takes some 30 minutes into central Palma and equally 35-40 minutes to Alcudia and Pollenca with its very fine beaches. Also the world cultural heritage site of the Tramuntana mountain range (Soller, Deia Valdemossa) is only 30-40 minutes by car. There is a public trainstation (Inca - Palma) some 3000 m down the road. Shops and supermarkets equally some 3-4000 m or 15 minutes by car. Santa Maria del Cami (5 minutes by car) has some nice interior design and antiques shops, two excellent bike shops for the lovers of biking activities and quite a nice selection of cafes and restaurants. The Sunday farm and grocery market in Santa Maria is legendary. Just a bit further north is also Alaro (15 min by car) - equally charming with its busy market square and bars around. Difficult to decide which market town to prefer...

The Casita has 3 bedrooms with max. 6 persons to stay. The third bedroom is connected via the second bedroom (both on first floor). ll rooms have modern doublebeds in kingsize, windows for natural light with persiannas to darken the rooms from light or heat. There is a semi-open kitchen with all amenities for fine cooking and a living room with TV and a fireplace on ground floor. In addition one bed room and the bathroom with shower, toilet, bidets etc. are located on ground floor as well. From the large living room a double door opens to the romantic court yard before the cottage. There is an outside gas grill and 2 mountain bikes at your disposal.

The outside yard is nicely shaded by pinkish climbers. You find an outside stone table with benches in the court yard plus a stand with a bakery oven with a gas grill and two mountain bikes at your disposal. The court yard is lavishly green with plants all over. Also exit to the small village road is through the court yard. On the other side you may want to walk up some three steps to a terrace that opens towards the main mansion. There is plenty space for sunbathing and a small adjacent terrace underneath some citrus trees for taking drinks in the evening light with a view over the vast plain towards the blinking lights of Palma far in the distance. Some two more steps takes you to the swimming pool with a sofa and space to relax - protected from the mansion's outer wall.

Marraxtinet is small typical Mallorquin village entirely surrounded by fields of olive and almond trees. There are hardly any tourists and only one small hotel with 10 rooms. Villagers are very friendly.

From Marraxtinet communication to pulsing Palma, the stunning Tramuntana as well as the fine beaches of the vast Pollenca and Alcudia bays is all well below 60 minutes. The charming market towns of Santa Maria del Cami and Alaró have all what is needed in regards to supermarkets, fresh food on market days, nice restaurants and little bars for a lazy afternoon coffee. With its nice pool overlooking the entire village and the area around and its secluded and cozy court yard for breakfast or candle light dinners Casita Can Magdale is the perfect holiday location for families and friends up to 6 persons who enjoy a mix of relaxing days at home and at the pool in combination with a variety of excursions and activities around Mallorca for which the island is so beloved for. Also as a biking location Casita Can Magdale is perfect in Spring and Autumn as it is ideally located within a net of numerous small county and back roads around.
